Limp Noodle

Lately when we leave the house we've had to lock the dogs in their crates.

Bones has issues with separation and we've come home to discover that he's put together entire outfits on the floor. Actually it's pretty amazing! He'll get a shoe for each foot (usually one of mine and one of Casey's), he'll have a shirt and usually a towel instead of pants. He's also destroyed my $90 slippers and chewed on Casey's.

So into the crates they go.

BUT, Bender doesn't like being locked up. Bender wants to do what he wants to do when he wants to do it. So if we tell him "Bender, crate." He'll roll on his back and go limp noodle.

"I's cute, right? No crate for me?"

You may want to turn the volume down. I didn't realize how annoying my voice was.

We try to ask him forcefully, we try to bribe with treats (I know, we're bad), we usually have to resort to picking up a 35lb Corgi brick.

Do any other Corgi's out there do this? I'm thinking it's time he and I go to obedience classes.

Also my paws it forward people, I hope to ship packages this week!

Here's the youtube video link.

  1. haha Benjamin is the exact same way. If he doesnt want to do something he flops right over onto his back, and unless you pick him up and force him to do it (Normally go outside, or go to bed) he won't.

  2. LOL; I can't believe he won't cooperate when food is around; that is usually such a motivating factor! Koda knows when we are leaving even before we know we are leaving, LOL, so usually he will already be in the crate waiting for his treat, but it has been what we have always done since day one with him when we leave so it is habit for him I guess. I had to laugh though with your other dog getting your stuff out and coordinating an outfit when you guys were gone.

  3. haha Gibson does that too when he doesn't want to be picked up! We pick him up anyways though..but I swear he is like a little magnet that sticks to the floor!

  4. Hahaha I love when he starts reaching for the treat with his paws.

Sadie totally does this, too. I usually have to pick her up or bribe her with a treat. The treat option always seems easier tho lol.

  5. hahaha! love the video! and the phrase 35 lb corgi brick. Whiksey does this too especially with bath, go outside, or bed time. And it must just be the way their body configurations are but they are almost impossible to pick up from that position.

  6. Haha, this is exactly what my two boys does. When they figure out that I need them to go outside, they stop in their tracks, drop and roll onto their back, haha. So then roll them over onto their feet and give their fannies a gentle push forward and they start moving. :)
I loved that little reach for the treat, so cute.
