Aaaaand We're Back!

First things first, Kelly and Gibson, Betty and Koda, and Karen and Butterball thank you so much for the wonderful treat reviews! I really hope you enjoyed your snacks. I hope to have the shop up and running within the next week or so.

Now to explain where we disappeared to the past two weeks. We went from Idaho to Utah, to Wyoming, to Nebraska, to Iowa, to Illinois, to Indiana, and Michigan. We then traveled back through Indiana, Illinois, and Iowa, but then we ventured to South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, and arrived back in Idaho. If you counted, that's 10 states in just over 2 weeks! Whew!

Now why would we make a crazy trip like that you ask? One of my best friends from high school got married. You may ask yourself, "Why would they drive over 2000 miles with two dogs?" Well we knew we wanted to spend some time with our families in Michigan and it's just too pricey to board the dogs for that long. Plus Bender IS an adventure dog, and this sure was one long adventure!

We did a bunch of touristy stuff along the way. We stopped by The Henry Ford in Detroit, "The Future Birthplace of Captain James T. Kirk" in Riverside Iowa, The Danish Windmill in Elk Horn Iowa, Wall Drug in South Dakota, The Geographic Center of the Country in South Dakota, The Aladdin Tipple in Wyoming, and Devils Tower in Wyoming! We also stopped by Western Michigan University to walk the dogs around campus.

Casey and the dogs in front of Devils Tower. Casey isn't angry it's just difficult to hold 2 dogs still in low light conditions in a busy parking lot.

Bender did surprisingly well in the car this trip. He only panted the first day, after that he sat like a lead brick on our laps. By the end he was even sleeping in the car! Yes, the only way Bender will sit in the car is if he can sit in the front seat on the passenger's lap. Let me tell you, 4 days in a car with a 35lb corgi on your lap isn't as fun as it may sound.

  1. you are soooo brave Rachel to take the two dogs on that long of a trip!! I can imagine it was very hard to have Bender on your lap like that for so many hours! and then you guys camped on top of it all! sounds like a fun trip though!

  2. i know what you mean by having a dog on your lap.....butterball loves going everywhere us in the car and insists on sitting on my lap....the back seat is out of the question.

hope all of you had a great time :)

  3. I love the picture of Bender sleeping on your lap. Whiskey hates sitting up front or on anyones lap while in a car. She owns the back seat, that is her territory. And she likes to stick her head out the window, and thats just funny in a 2 door mustang.

  4. Been there and done that, sort of, when we took that trip to Florida and back with the four corgis in ten days! Still I LOVED having the dogs with us. BG & Gimli love to share my lap, and Gim is getting quite large now. BG is a PIGGLET! He weighs over 40 lbs. and I'm trying to keep him on a diet but he is just SO SNEAKY about ripping off with the pup's food cause they eat a little and then go to someone else's bowl playing musical bowls, but he goes and snarfs the rest in each bowl he checks, so by the time they start their next round, he's eaten it all. I may have to lock him up in another room when I feed, but he has the BIGGEST, MOST BEAUTIFUL PLEADING EYES!!!

I'm going to have to find you on Facebook. I'm under Linda Brock and we also have a Country Corgis Page.

  5. Traveling with dogs is fun. I think it leads to a fuller doggie life. Were you a WMU student? I'm a Central Mich. alumna! ;-)
